This can dramatically reduce plant losses due to moisture stress and improves establishment and growth. Works well in conjunction with Rootgrow.

Broadleaf P4 is a granular polymer which can absorb hundreds of times its own weight of water.

When the granules come into contact with water they absorb it, swelling to form discrete particles of water-charged gel. Incorporated into soil (or compost) the polymer granules act as thousands of tiny reservoirs of "contained" rain or irrigation water. Plant roots colonise these reservoirs of water-charged gel and can extract over 95% of the stored water as required, over an extended period of time.

Broadleaf P4 is inert, safe for all plant species in all types of growing media and is non-contaminating; is durable in most growing conditions, giving years of environmental benefit;

Application

RATE:

We recommend an application rate of 2 grams per bareroot plant or equally you could work on 1 gram of granules to be mixed in with 1 litre of compost or soil

METHOD:

  • Put your compost/soil into a container and sprinkle the required amount of Broadleaf P4 granules on the top.

  • Make sure your hands are very dry (or wear dry gloves) and mix the P4 into the compost so it is evenly spread.

  • Put your compost/P4 mix into whatever you are planting into, prepared whole in the ground or a container, but do not plant anything yet.

  • If it is a container, ensure there is a sufficient gap at the top to allow for the P4 to swell to avoid an overflow.

  • Water the compost to capacity and leave for an hour or so. Top up with more water to make sure the granules are fully hydrated.

  • Plant your seeds or plants as normal.

  • You can now safely relax - the need to water is usually reduced around 75%, so once or twice a week is often sufficient.

  • Keep an eye on your plants and water whenever they show signs of wilting.
