Woodland Creation Grants: Applications open from 3 January 2017

Financial Support for Woodland Creation and Maintenance

The latest update on the availability of funding for capital grants for tree planting has been released. Under the Woodland Creation Grant Scheme, applications will be invited from 3 January to 1 March 2017. Initial grants of up to £6.8K per hectare are up for grabs. The grants awarded will help cover the cost of trees and any protection needed for them within two years of the award.

Extra funding will also be released for creating wooded dams to help alleviate flood risk.

The scheme, administered as part of the Countryside Stewardship programme by Natural England, the Forestry Commission, Defra and the Rural Payments Agency, also allocates funds for eligible applicants applying for maintenance of newly-created woodland for 10 years.
