We're pleased to read in this month's British Farmer and Grower that The Forestry Commission has announced substantially higher rates of grant support for woodland creation in England this year. The base level of grant for broadleaved planting has risen by over 50% from £1,800/ha to £2,800/ha and from £1,200/ha to £2,200/ha for conifers. There are also opportunities to gain an additional £2000 worth of funding if planting supports the Water Framework Directive, meets targets of the Nature Improvement Areas or creates five hectare native woodlands.
