ENGLISH WOODLAND GRANT SCHEME – NOW OPEN

The English Woodland Grant Scheme (EWGS) is now open for applications for those proposing to plant woodland during the 2008-2009 planting season.


The EWGS is administered by the Forestry Commission and is available to support the establishment of new woodlands.


This grant is discretionary and decided via a points scoring system.


For successful applicants, the Woodland Creation Grant pays £1800/Ha for new broadleaved plantations. Additional contributions are also available up to £500/Ha where certain criteria are met, such as proximity to local population and access.


Where the plantation is on arable land and you are a farmer, Farm Woodland Payments are available up to £300/Ha payable for 15 years.


The deadline for applications is September 2008. Interested applicants are advised to ACT NOW in order to submit your application in good time.
