The Privet Honeysuckle has lance-shaped, glossy dark green leaves and angular branches held almost horizontally. It has a spreading habit and makes excellent ground-cover; it’s especially useful in shade, or for covering difficult areas like steeply sloping banks. It can also be trained as a low hedge, no taller than 1m. It is deer and rabbit resistant, so is ideal where these are a problem.
Site and soil
The Privet Honeysuckle will do well on most soils, and will cope with dense shade.
